They will regulate establishments for the breeding of domestic animals

Morelia, Michoacán.- In one more action to protect animal species, the Plenary of the State Congress approved new measures that pay to achieve ideal conditions to improve their quality of life, keep them healthy, with adequate food, without suffering, pain or stress, receiving attention, love and care.
Thus, various reforms and additions to the Law of Rights, Welfare and Protection of Animals in the State of Michoacán, with which it is firmly prohibited, to continue with the sale of domestic species through intermediaries, since the mere fact of leaving them for days and nights without any human interaction or with those of their species, Without walks to reduce stress, these animals have adaptation problems once they have been acquired.
With this initiative, the Ministry of the Environment is empowered, as well as the municipalities, with the support of the protective associations, so that the establishments of breeding of domestic animals are supervised at least every six months.
The local legislators lamented the exploitation of females who are constantly pregnant for years, or even for their entire fertile life, to the point that they develop tumors, become decalcified, sick, lose mobility by being locked in cages and in the end, have a cruel fate, all for a commercial purpose.
For this reason, it was also approved in the initiative that, for reasons of reproductive maturity and biological efficiency, females will only mate after the first year of life, only once a year and until the age of 4 years and it will be mandatory that all animals that they alienate or transfer by any legal title to third parties, are dewormed and vaccinated according to their biological age, by a veterinarian.
In this sense, it is important to promote the formality and legality of establishments dedicated to the breeding, marketing and boarding of domestic animals in Michoacán, which, for many years, have been reproduced and marketed without any legal, health or ethical restriction, allowing their sale or exhibition under any circumstances, without taking care of their health and being victims of abuse; problem to which today the 75th Legislature intends to put a frontal brake.
