Independence Day in Argentina: National Museums and their cultural proposals

This July 9 is celebrated in Argentina the 207th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, a historic milestone that marked the birth of a “free and independent nation.” The National Museums were prepared to pay tribute with a variety of activities and cultural proposals. In the Historical Museum of the North, located in Salta Capital, an exhibition of audiovisual arts called “La Celestes y Blanca” will be held. This exhibition, aimed especially at children but open to the general public, is the result of the talent of the children’s department of the Tomás Cabrera School of Fine Arts. Access to the museum, located at Caseros 549, is free and the exhibition will be open from 10:30 am. In the province of Entre Ríos, the San José Palace and National Historic Monument “Justo José de Urquiza” will also be the scene of celebration. From 2 pm, visitors can enjoy the Winter Festival. The day will begin with the reception of the famous cabezudos, colorful and emblematic characters that will fill the atmosphere with joy. In addition, a playful-didactic space dedicated especially to children will be inaugurated, where they can participate in activities designed for their entertainment and learning. To complement the experience, guided tours adapted to the ages of the little ones will be offered. The museum will remain open until 6 pm in the charming Patio del Parral, located on Provincial Route No. 39 Kilometer 128 (detour north 3 km), in the rural area of Caseros, Department Uruguay. Admission is free. The National Historical Museum, located in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, also joins the celebrations with two outstanding activities. At 11 am, the band of the Argentine Naval Prefecture will give a concert in the courtyard of the museum, while hot chocolate with churros is served. At 11:30 am, there will be a special guided tour of the exhibition “Time of Revolution”, which proposes a new look at a foundational stage of Argentine and American history. Admission to the museum, located at Defensa 1600, is free. The National Museum of the Cabildo of Buenos Aires and the May Revolution joins the celebration with a special program. From 3 pm, the singer Mariano Luna will offer a concert, accompanied by the students of the IDAF Folk Art Institute, who will be in charge of filling the stage with their dance skills. As a complement, traditional guided tours will be offered at 11, 12:30, 14 and 15:30 hours, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the fascinating stories that this emblematic place holds without prior registration. Admission to the museum, located at Bolívar 65, will be free. Finally, the emblematic Historic House, National Museum of Independence, located in San Miguel de Tucumán, invites families to enjoy a musical show. After the protocol acts of July 9, at 4 pm, the folkloric vocal trio Nehuen will delight those present with a selection of songs. Javier Fiori, Alvaro Arruñada and Fernando Llomplat will join their voices to perform works by outstanding Tucumán composers and poets, as well as their own compositions that reflect their personal vision of Tucumán history, life and identity. This moving concert will be repeated on July 21, at 12 noon, and admission will be free. The appointment is in Congress 141, where the Historic House stands as a living symbol of our independence.
