Argentina commemorates 40 years of democracy with the “Unstoppable” festival

This Sunday, November 5, the Center for Legal and Social Studies (CELS) will hold a special event at the Malvinas Argentinas stadium, to commemorate 40 years of democracy in Argentina. The festival, called “Unstoppable”, promises a day full of conversations, debates, music and dance, open to all citizens free of charge. The program of the event offers a varied range of activities that seek to involve all attendees. The music will be provided by prominent artists, such as La Bomba de Tiempo, Paula Maffía, Gauchito Club, Alan Sutton y Las Criaturitas de la Anxiety, Los Rockan, Banda sorpresa ATP, Biomas, Puel Kona, Shitstem and DJ Jim Lpz.The exhibitions and talks, which begin at 3:30 p.m., will address topics such as politics, democracy and the future we all want. Speakers include prominent figures such as Deolinda Carrizo of MoCaSE, Lucila de Ponti, Abel Furlán, Clarisa Gambera, Alejandro Vilca, Steven Forti of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Gerardo Pisarello, Nacho Levy of La Poderosa, Dina Sánchez, Sofía Saraceno, Henrique Vieira Pastor of Brazil, Miguel Santucho of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, Belén Silva, Tamara Tenenbaum, Caren Tepp and more. Discussions will focus on crucial issues such as the transformation of territories into communities, the role of women in society, challenges in rural areas, the power of memes in politics, and mental health and the care system. The festival promises to be a day full of reflection, music, and civic engagement. CELS seeks to remind Argentine society that democracy is a constant work that depends on the mobilization and commitment of all. In the words of the organization: “Argentine democracy is forty years old and seems surrounded. It is not enough to defend it: what we owe ourselves is to widen it. Unstoppable is an invitation to mobilize. More than ever.”
