Elections 2023: transportation will be free in the PASO and in the general elections

On Sunday, August 13, the Primary, Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory (PASO) elections will take place where the candidates for the general elections will be chosen. In this context, the national government ordered that the train and bus transport service be free both that day and October 22. The measure was decided by Minister Diego Giuliano, with resolution 435/2023 published today in the Official Gazette. It is proposed that the services have a frequency of at least Saturday. In this way, it seeks to facilitate that all citizens can exercise their right to vote. In this sense, Giuliano said that the objective of this measure is “to guarantee the right to vote of all people,” and for this: “We put the entire transport system of national jurisdiction at the disposal of citizens so that they can go to the polls on Sunday and we invite all provinces and municipalities to do the same. ” Then he stressed: “We have to simplify people’s lives at a time when they are going to express their will and we want to avoid transportation being an obstacle,” Giuliano said. In turn, the Minister of Transport of the Nation invited the jurisdictions to adhere to the measure, through the signing of an agreement, and thus receive the corresponding economic compensation. The acceding jurisdictions must render accounts within 10 days after each election and the Ministry will make the compensatory transfers in the same number of days after the accountability is approved.
