Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez commented on the new rule in penalties: “They did it late”

At the beginning of July, a regulatory update was made official by the IFAB, the organization that defines the rules of football worldwide. One of the changes has to do, precisely, with the implementation of the law known as “anti Dibu Martínez”. Although at that time the world champion goalkeeper with the Argentine National Team shared on Instagram a peculiar drawing to refer to the decision, this Friday he referred to the subject. “I loved it because they always look for some excuse for the kicker to score the goal. I told my family and the people close to me ‘I don’t care, we are already champions of everything’. World champion, champion of America… They made it late,” said Emiliano Martínez in a chat with Urbana Play FM. To deepen, the current Aston Villa player clarified: “The strikers can be stopped, they can do everything and we can not even talk, I think it is wrong. I don’t care, I tackled the one I had to tackle.” On the other hand, when asked if he saw the World Cup final between the Argentine National Team and France, which ended 3-3 in regulation time and was defined in the penalties with a great intervention by Martinez, he was honest: “I did not see it. I don’t want to suffer.”What is the “Anti Dibu Law”?This law was quickly defined as “Anti Dibu Martínez”, since from the IFAB it was made clear that from the moment the rule begins to apply, “the goalkeeper will not disrespect football or the opponent, for example, distracting the executor of the shot in an anti-regulatory way”. Another of the modifications that Rule 14 suffered, which talks about the execution of penalties, states that the goalkeeper “will not delay the execution of the penalty or touch the posts, the crossbar or the net of the goal”.
