Children’s Hospital treats depression and anxiety in mental health module

Morelia, Michoacán.- If your child presents social isolation, recurrent changes in mood, loss or increase in appetite, the Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM) has a mental health care module at its Children’s Hospital of Morelia Eva Sámano de López, to treat depression and anxiety disorders.
This module, located in the emergency area, provides comprehensive mental health care with consultations and evaluations to detect in a timely manner problems such as depression, bipolarity, suicidal behavior and anxiety, in addition to providing emotional accompaniment to family members. According to the coordinator of the mental health module, Tania Vivanco Valladares, in this area children from 12 to 17 years old are treated, who, after making a diagnosis, are offered an average of five monthly consultations, follow-up and if necessary, channeling to the Psychiatric Hospital of Morelia Dr. José Torres Orozco.
So far this year, this medical unit has provided 348 consultations with this comprehensive service that is available from Monday to Friday, from 08:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No appointment is required and all minors without social security are served.
This action guarantees mental health care for the Michoacan population, as one of the commitments of the government of Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla.
