Basic basket: a typical family needed $ 248,962 to not be poor in July

The Basic Food Basket (CBA) rose 7.1% in June, so it accumulated an increase of 125.7% in the last 12 months. For its part, the Total Basic Basket (CBT) increased by 7.1% accumulating 123.7% year-on-year, reported today the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec). In this way, the cost of basic necessities for a typical family reached $ 248,962 in the sixth month of the year. Therefore, households with incomes below this amount are considered poor. In turn, a family made up of two adults and two minor children needed income of $ 111,642 to avoid falling into destitution.
Thus, in the first seven months of the year the food basket accumulated an increase of 66.2%, while the total basic basket rose 63.2%, compared to a general inflation of 60.2% in the same period. In addition, the report indicates that the division with the highest incidence in the CPI of July was Food and non-alcoholic beverages, with an increase of 5.8%, in which the increases in the prices of Bread and cereals, as well as Meats and derivatives stood out. As for the products that increased the most in this period, they were the Potato (34.1%), Sugar (17.1%), Firm yogurt (16.7%), White rice (12.4%), Whole milk powder (12%), Dulce de leche (10.8%) and the kilo of Lettuce (10.7%).
