Bedolla, archbishop and bishops establish route for peace and justice in Michoacán

Joint actions agreed for the reconstruction of the social fabric and the common good
Morelia, Michoacán. Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla agreed with the Archbishop of Morelia, Carlos Garfias Merlos and bishops of Zamora and Apatzingán, joint actions to restore peace in regions affected by violence, according to a statement from the government of Michoacán.
The state governor commented that it seeks to strengthen security strategies and factors that generate violence, as well as strengthen care centers for victims, addictions and those displaced by crime.
“We cannot resign ourselves to criminal activity and I insist that we must advance in coordination and harmony, to give good results for peace and with truth, without impunity,” he emphasized after asking for continuity to the approaches to land concrete actions in each region.
The Secretary of Government, Carlos Torres Piña, added that these actions are intended to be carried out, within the framework of the International Day of Peace, to be commemorated on September 21, with the different expressions of faith, institutions of the Church and the Interreligious Council, to contribute to social reconciliation and preservation of peace.
He commented that the Government of Michoacán will participate with the accompaniment of academic, artistic, cultural actions among others, starting in the regions of Apatzingán, Uruapan and the demarcations where violent events have arisen.

The Archbishop of Morelia, Carlos Garfias Merlos, agreed to coordinate solidarity actions for the reconstruction of the social fabric where representatives of the Catholic Church can reinforce messages of peace and through Caritas, care and guidance to victims of violence.
In addition, he said, the results of the National Justice and Security Forum will be shared with the State Government to privilege issues such as good practices, education for a culture of peace, sowers of peace, protection of minors, citizen complaint, to name a few.
The bishops of Zamora and Apatzingán, Javier Navarro and Cristobal Ascencio García, respectively, agreed to maintain good relations with the authorities, in order to close ranks and work with truth and justice for the common good and social stability of the population.
