“The Gold”: Release date and trailer for new British drama

Paramount+ revealed the trailer for its new British drama, “El Oro”, which will premiere on the platform on September 14. This is the story created and written by Neil Forsyth (“Guilt on Masterpiece”). The series is inspired by the real-life events that took place on November 26, 1983, when six armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat security depot near London’s Heathrow Airport and inadvertently stumbled upon gold bars valued at £26 million. According to detectives, what began as a typical armed robbery on Old Kent Road became a pivotal event in British criminal history that is notable not only for the scale of the robbery (at the time the largest in world history) but for its legacy. The removal of bullion sparked the birth of large-scale international money laundering, as it provided the dirty money that helped fuel the London Docklands property boom, united blue- and white-collar criminals, and left controversy and murder in its wake. It will star Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Dominic Cooper (The Preacher), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses), Charlotte Spencer (Cinderella), Tom Cullen (Black Mirror), Emun Elliott (Old), Sean Harris (Mission: Impossible), Ellora Torchia (Midsommar), Stefanie Martini (The Last Kingdom), Daniel Ings (Lovesick) and Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl).
