Daniel Orsanic criticized the Argentine Tennis Association: “When the ego comes first…”

During the series between Argentina and Lithuania, for the World Group I of the Davis Cup, which took place last weekend and ended with the victory of the national team by 4 to 0, the hundred years of the first participation of the country in the competition were celebrated. As part of the event, which took place at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) held some tributes and commemorative exhibitions. In this commemorative act, Daniel Orsanic, the captain of the team that in 2016 raised the only Salad Bowl, was not present. After not being invited by the leadership, he made a post on Instagram to refer to the subject. In a video, he collected images of the aforementioned achievement and reflected in off.Daniel Orsanic’s full message
Tennis friends, tennis family. I want to congratulate the Davis Cup team on the win. Players, coaching staff and that fans that always accompanies. Very happy for all, spectacular atmosphere. Congratulations on the anniversary of Argentina’s participation in Davis Cup; 100 years nothing more and nothing less.Argentina played the Davis Cup for 100 years and we won it once. I had the privilege of being the captain of that team, that team of lions. This weekend I would have liked to be invited to the Davis Cup series played at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis. I would have liked to have been part of the celebration of that anniversary.I think the ego on the court in tennis is something very positive, it helps us gain confidence and believe in ourselves, you have to know how to handle it. But when that ego comes before purpose, when pettiness trumps responsiveness, I think wrong decisions are made, memories are not optimized. It’s good to be self-critical and realize that sometimes we act badly. Have the people of the Association been overlooked? Or is pride still the strongest?I wish all this to improve for the good of Argentine tennis, for the good of this sport that gave us so much. We are part of a society that I personally want to grow for the better.A very, very strong greeting. A big hug to the whole tennis family and let’s move forward“. Orsanic was captain of the Argentine team that in 2016 was consecrated for the first time in its history by beating Croatia in the final by 3 to 2. In that definition, the national team won thanks to the victories of Juan Martín Del Potro (over Ivo Karlovic and Marin Cilic) and Delbonis, who won the fifth and last point against Karlovic. In addition, in that squad, were Leonardo Mayer, who played the doubles with Del Potro, and Guido Pella, who was as third singlista. To the consecration are added Renzo Olivo, Carlos Berlocq and Juan Monaco, who were not in the final but participated in the preliminary series.
