Alberto Fernández: “Public works are the great engine that moves the economy”

President Alberto Fernández toured on Tuesday, together with the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis, the works in the Buenos Aires town of San Miguel del Monte for the transformation of National Route No. 3 into a highway on the Cañuelas-Azul route and highlighted the value of public works in politics. In these four years we set our sights especially on public works because it is the great engine that moves the economy, and we are convinced that it is necessary to be able to think about a more federal development, “said the president. He stressed that it is a “route that is very important for the province of Buenos Aires” and pointed out that “the previous government had planned to do it with the Public Private Participation (PPP) system, which was a scam because when we took over in 2019 all the works cost 70% of what the State was going to pay in those PPPs “, informed the Chair. During the tour of the San Miguel del Monte-Gorchs section, which will double the road along 26.2 kilometers with an investment of 23,353 million pesos from the national government, the President was also accompanied by the mayor of Las Flores, Alberto Gelené; the deputy general administrator of National Roads, Alejandro Urdampilleta, and the head of the 1st Buenos Aires District of Roads, Marily Rivero. For his part, Katopodis said that National Route No. 3 “is one of the most important routes for production and economic development of Argentina” and explained that “all heavy transport of the port of Bahía Blanca, everything that has to do with the stone and cement of Olavarría, and everything that comes from the south, passes through that road.”
