For the first time, government says, they honor Uruapan Martyrs without protest

Struggle of Sacrificed Liberals Coincides with Plan Morelos 
Uruapan, Michoacán. – According to a press release, the tribute to the liberal soldiers sacrificed in the square that bears their name in memory of that crime committed by the invading Franco-Belgian forces was carried out in a solemn and respectful setting “without the usual protests and shouting”.
Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla stressed that the struggle of the Martyrs of Uruapan, who stood out by force of arms in the defense of the integrity of the territory and national sovereignty, coincides with the Morelos Plan that seeks to put Michoacán on a path of inclusive progress that is heading towards the Fourth Republic of expanded rights of its citizens.
Meanwhile, Dr. Silvia Figueroa, former rector of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH), and official speaker at the event, said that “it is imperative to consolidate the coincidences and all the potential of the Morelos Plan and the transformation in the same cause.”

The state governor said that the struggle of the martyrs was traced and pushed under the values of national sovereignty; therefore, they are distinguished figures of the Second Republic, headed by Benito Juárez.
He celebrated the fact that this tribute to the prominent republican military officers has been carried out in order, in accordance with the debt the homeland owes to them.
On the other hand, in the same solemn act, Ramírez Bedolla presented the Martyrs of Uruapan Medal to Martina Navarro González, in the cultural category in applied arts; Víctor Javier Marín Gutiérrez, in the artistic category; and J. Jesús Flores Paz, in the altruistic category.
The president was accompanied by the Secretary of Government, Elías Ibarra Torres; Ignacio Campos Equihua, municipal president of Uruapan; Julieta García Zepeda, president of the Board of Directors of the State Congress; Adrián López Solís, Attorney General of the State; Jorge Reséndiz García, President of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Council of the Judiciary of the State of Michoacán; as well as senators, federal and state deputies, state and municipal officials.
