Elections 2023: The axes and structure of the debate between Sergio Massa and Javier Milei

The six thematic axes and the rules of the presidential debate between Sergio Massa, candidate of Union for the Fatherland, and Javier Milei, candidate of La Libertad Avanza, which will be held next Sunday, November 12 at 9 p.m. at the Faculty of Law of the UBA, a week before the second round, were defined by lottery this Wednesday. The topics that the presidential hopefuls will address in this third exchange will be Economy; Argentina’s relations with the world; Education and Health; Production and Labor; Safety; Human Rights and Democratic Coexistence. Regarding the structure, a series of modifications were introduced to the dynamics of the discussion: there will be more crossovers and the candidates will be able to move around the stage, although in a limited range. Location and axes distributed in two blocksThe draw held this morning at the headquarters of the CNE, in the Buenos Aires microcenter, resolved that the candidate of UxP, Sergio Massa, will occupy -from the perspective of the audience- the lectern of the right. And Javier Milei, from La Libertad Avanza, the one on the left. At the beginning of the debate, each candidate will have a one-minute presentation. Then, we will move on to the presentation of the six thematic axes. There will be 12 minutes per topic and each candidate will have up to six minutes that they can administer at their choice; When one of the candidates finishes speaking, the other candidate will automatically have the floor. The moderators will only intervene in the event that one of the candidates speaks for more than two minutes. The exhibition of the axes will be divided into two blocks of three axes each. At the end, each of the candidates will have two minutes to close.
