“It’s a failure… celebrate the arrival of these remittances,” said the deputy

Morelia, Michoacán. – “(…) without a doubt this is a failure, it is unfortunate that they incur in those postures of festing and celebrating that these remittances arrive,” responds the PRI deputy, Jesús Hernández Peña to the celebration that AMLO made after breaking the record of remittances in the country.
Jesús Hernández Peña, as current deputy of the Congress of the State of Michoacán, after being asked his opinion regarding the celebration that the President of the Republic Andrés Manuel López Obrador made for the arrival of more remittances to Mexico, shared that “without a doubt this is a failure of policies. This country owes a lot to the migrant cause, to migrants.”
The congressman also points out that it is enough to have a little sense of responsibility to realize that “it is unfortunate that they even incur in those postures of feasting and celebrating, how good that these remittances arrive,” because it is enough to see that “these contributions are made by almost 40 million Mexicans who are 99% in the American Union.”
And taking advantage of the space, “I see it as appropriate to raise my voice and claim that even though all these Mexicans contribute to the possibility of being able to support themselves in this country, they are still in the struggle; That’s why I’m calling for it, that’s why I’m raising my voice to demand that the government address and implement new policies, because here, there is no political will.”
With this, the PRI militant endorses that “the federal and state governments lack the sensitivity” to come together and support Mexican success abroad, “even with the talent they have, who have managed to stand out and generate conditions, even with the will to want to contribute, the government does not see them.”
To illustrate this, the deputy said, “let’s remember that programs such as the famous three-for-one have been removed, not to mention that in the consulates they are without resources and people are demanding very basic services; Not even that has been the capacity of the government, that is the size of the debt we owe to them.”
Finally, he affirms that the fact that these remittances arrive in Michoacán is proof that Michoacans do not have good and fruitful job opportunities here.
“Without a doubt, going there is because they fundamentally sought a better quality and function of life that is not offered here, obviously there are other circumstances for which there is also that mobility and migration but fundamentally it is that here there are no alternatives; It’s not that we don’t have conditions here, the issue is that there are no policies, there is no support for the countryside in this particular case of Michoacán, there is no investment, there is no economic activity, why do they go there? because they have no other alternative,” he added.
