El Salvador. – The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, inaugurated the “Binaes” National Library, which is the most modern in all of Latin America, is located in the capital of the Central American country and will be open 24 hours a day.
This venue has a capacity for more than 360,000 books, it was financed mainly by the government of China, which made a donation of 54 million dollars for the realization of this work while the Salvadoran Government contributed with 10 million dollars.
The fact that it can be visited at any time of the day is thanks to the security that is currently experienced in this territory:
“The fact that we live in a safe country, where there is basically no unsafe place, in the whole territory, people can come at any time they want. Come in the early morning, stay here at 3:00 a.m. without any problem, the president said while giving a tour of the library.
On Tuesday, November 14, at eight o’clock in the evening, this enclosure was inaugurated, among the data shared by the Salvadoran government about the new library, the following stand out:
It has 24,000 square meters of construction compared to the 4,900 square meters of the previous library.
It houses more than 360 thousand physical books, distributed over 7 levels, users of the new National Library will also have access to more than 9 million titles in digital format and connection with other libraries around the world.
It will operate 24/7 so that Salvadorans can come at the time they want and enjoy this new Cultural Center.
The first level of the library includes 26 areas, including:
° Auditorium with capacity for 350 people
° El Salvador Publishing Shop
° Library Cafe
° VIP Lounge
° Consultation room
On the second level there will be a children’s playroom.
The third level is dedicated to Childhood and Adolescence, for ages 8 to 12
The library will also have nursing staff, a large and equipped lactation room.
The fourth level is aimed at young people, has reading rooms, themed areas of Harry Potter, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, among others, computer rooms, as well as comics, manga and poetry.
On the fifth level is the general collection, Latin American literature and world literature.
The sixth level features:
° Digital newspaper library with 9 million copies
° Meeting rooms
° Interactive displays
° Concentration booths
° Gamer area
° Ipads and Kindles for digital reading
° LABCO Co-Creativity Laboratory
On the seventh level there is a restaurant, an art gallery, a terrace and an auditorium.
