We Must Be the Generation That Eradicates Violence Against Women: Michoacán First

Morelia, Michoacán.- “We must set ourselves the challenge of making this the last generation of humanity in which we are talking about violence, discrimination and oppression towards half of humanity represented by women. We must be the generation that eradicates these atrocities totally,” they said in a statement.
This was expressed by the State Leader of Michoacán Primero, Antonio Plaza Urbina, accompanied by the Secretary General, Miriam Alarcón Ramos, as well as activists and attendees of the Women’s Meeting, held on November 25, which commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
“I want to thank you for being at the seven sessions of the seminar on women’s political development that concluded with this meeting. I really want to recognize that some of you, with your children or grandchildren, with all your commitments, took the time to continue enriching us and nourishing us with such valuable topics,” said Alarcón Ramos.
Both leaders highlighted that the closing event of the Seminar Workshop “Development of Women’s Political Leadership” will take place on November 25 in the fight against violence against this sector of humanity, which is an issue in which Michoacán Primero has been committed since its origin, as well as specific actions that cannot wait.
“Any kind of violence against women is totally unacceptable. Addressing these issues with the seriousness they have and with the perspective of seeking solutions is a commitment that Michoacán Primero has assumed since the day it is born. We have to guarantee safety, integrity and the conditions so that women can fully develop,” added Plaza Urbina.
After recalling that women were the majority in the constituent assemblies of Michoacán Primero, she pointed out that this participation decreases considerably when opportunities are opened to them in leadership positions, so it is necessary to provide them with conditions in which they do not have a single doubt or impediment to show their potential.
“We in Michoacán Primero have a protocol that complies with all international standards to prevent political violence, but we also know that it is not enough. They have the desire and the skills they have to spare, but they have impediments. We need the defense of women’s rights to take place in public policies that reduce these inequalities,” concluded Plaza Urbina.
This event was held in the capital of Michoacán with the participation, energy and smiles of women from all latitudes of our State, who participated in a dynamic guided by the facilitator Lucero García de León Martínez, with which they closed the Seminar Workshop “Development of Women’s Political Leadership” that included training from the specialists Andrea López Contreras, Uriel Piña Reyna, Michel Liliana Rangel Hinojosa, Víctor Alfonso Cruz Ricardo and Christián Gutiérrez Alonso.
