Horacio Larreta bid farewell to his administration: “We transformed the City in a historic way”

The eight-year period at the head of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires concluded for Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, who shared a video that summarizes the achievements and transformations that, in his words, will go down in history as a milestone in the development of the Argentine capital. In a message full of nostalgia and gratitude, Larreta said: “Together, during all these years, we transformed the City in a historic way that will remain in everyone’s memory.” The farewell video, almost 15 minutes long, becomes a visual tour of the main milestones of his administration, emphasizing significant achievements in various areas fundamental to the development and well-being of the people of Buenos Aires. Security stands out as one of the pillars of his tenure, highlighting the creation of the City Police in 2016, a crucial step that, according to the video, transformed fear into trust, driving crime rates to the lowest levels in decades. Education is also a fundamental pillar of his administration, evidencing a change from the school building emergency to the creation of 108 new schools and an increase in the number of school days for students. Health care and the response to the COVID-19 pandemic are also highlighted in the tour, emphasizing the rapid creation of testing and vaccination centers during critical times, as well as noting a substantial improvement in the availability and quality of health services. Transport, with the implementation of new roads such as the Metrobús de la 9 de Julio and del Bajo, together with the expansion of the network of bicycle lanes, reflects a significant change in mobility and accessibility in the city. In addition to these milestones, Larreta’s management is also proud of the relocation of key ministries to different neighborhoods, symbolizing integration and progress, as well as the successful realization of international events such as the Youth Olympic Games in 2018 and the C40 World Mayors Summit in 2022.
