Adorni: “The parity scheme will be in line with the freedom between the parties, as Milei promoted”

When asked if the 54% devaluation of the peso and the strong adjustment that fell on the people would be compensated with the opening of parity agreements, presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni said that the parity scheme proposed by President Javier Milei was always in line with “freedom between parties” and will be. “In relation to the Wage Council, the minimum wage and issues that concern the Ministry of Labor, it will be the Secretariat itself that will make the corresponding announcements,” he added this morning at the usual press conference. The head of this portfolio is Omar Yasín, who will be accompanied by Horacio Pitrau, Gustavo Morón and Luis Palomino in his administration. Despite his appointment, so far the secretary has not said what he will do in his administration or when he will call the Wage Council again to mitigate the consequences of the devaluation and adjustment. In the announcement of the package of economic measures, Economy Minister Luis Caputo assured that transport subsidies will be reduced. In this context, Argentines who travel daily by bus and train and often board more than one, wonder how much transportation is going to cost. For this reason, this morning the accredited journalists of Casa Rosada asked the presidential spokesman if all transportation subsidies would be removed and what is going to happen to people who take more than one bus or train. Adorni replied that “the rational thing to do is for the subsidy to be focused on demand,” since this would cut the inequity of those who have the least paying the subsidies to those who have the most. “Inequality has to be pulverized,” he said, although it was not clear what the transportation subsidy removal scheme would be, or how much it would be worth. All the measures that are taken are going to be about not harming those who have the least and need it,” he said. Meanwhile, regarding the pension reform, Adorni said that the government seeks to prevent the assets of the elderly from having a “great loss.” According to the calculations of the economic team, pensions would lose “40% of their purchasing power in the short term”, for this reason they seek to make discretionary increases instead of giving bonuses to compensate. In this sense, he added that the economic team is putting together a retirement mobility formula to modify the current one. When asked if the rent law will finally be modified or repealed, Adorni said that the Milei government “always promotes freedom between the parties in private contracts.” He added that the rule did “a lot of damage to the housing market,” but made no reference to tenants. “Let’s understand that it hurts people, it’s going to be corrected and corrected,” he said. On the other hand, the presidential spokesman took aim at the bloc of deputies of the Union for the Homeland that criticized the adjustment. “This week, since the announcement of the measures announced by Minister Luis Caputo, we have been surprised by some reactions, particularly from some sectors of politics that had great responsibility in this Argentina that we are going through. We are surprised that while many remained silent in the face of uncontrolled inflation, meager wages and the creation of poor people, today they question the measures and the path we are taking when the only thing we are doing is avoiding the catastrophe that they themselves caused,” Adorni said. which includes “things we’re not comfortable or agree with.” In this sense, he insisted again that these measures are due to “the legacy” left by the previous government, “loaded with bombs to be deactivated.”
