60 kilos of cocaine hidden in banana crates seized

About 60 kilos of cocaine were seized that were hidden in banana crates that were being transported to the Central Market at the General Lagos Toll Booth, located between the city of Rosario and Victoria. The procedure, called “The Forbidden Fruit”, was carried out on National Route No. 9 by the Anti-Drug Investigations Section “Rosario” in collaboration with the 46th Squadron “Rosario – Victoria”. The operation was carried out during vehicle control, when a truck coming from Bolivia was identified bound for the Central Market of Buenos Aires. Irregularities in the documentation and the state of the transport raised suspicions, which led to the intervention of the AFIP-DGA and the Argentine Naval Prefecture to open seals and use the scanner. After an inspection, gendarmes from the “Rosario” Anti-Drug Investigations Section discovered 53 packages of cocaine, with a total weight of approximately 56 kilos and 514 grams, which were hidden among the boxes of bananas in the truck. With the authorization of the corresponding judge, the pertinent legal actions were carried out and the narcotic substance was confiscated. The driver, whose identity was not released, was arrested and is being held incommunicado.
