Corrientes authorities confirmed the third dengue death of the season

In a new blow to the front of the fight against dengue in Corrientes, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed the death of a 42-year-old man, whose identity has been kept confidential by the authorities, originally from the provincial capital. The death occurred at the Escuela Hogar Field Hospital last Friday, thus adding the third fatality from the disease so far this year. The patient, whose health condition had deteriorated severely, was admitted in critical condition, presenting a picture of severe dehydration, according to reports from the General Directorate of Epidemiology. Despite medical efforts, unfortunately, his condition could not be reversed. The man, previously hospitalized in a private clinic in the region, was transferred to the provincial medical center when his condition worsened, immediately activating the health protocol to identify possible contacts and carry out the corresponding fumigation in the affected area in order to contain the spread of the virus. Health authorities reiterated the importance of not self-medicating, warning against the use of painkillers such as ibuprofen that could aggravate the symptoms of dengue. In addition, they urged the population to stay hydrated, seek medical attention in the presence of symptoms and contact the family doctor in case of suffering from any risk disease. Dengue, with its load of symptoms that include severe headaches, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and skin rashes, remains a concern for health authorities. Statistics from the Ministry of Health of the Nation from the previous year indicate that the vast majority of confirmed infections were of autochthonous origin, evidencing a worrying upward trend in cases of dengue.
