Sonora, Mexico. – The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) has reported the suspension of the return to classes in some states in the north of the country, as a result of the low temperatures that have been recorded in recent days.
 
In 17 municipalities of the Mexican Republic, the decision was made that students will not return to the classroom, this because of the meteorological conditions that will be caused by the Fourth Winter Storm and the Cold Front 25; The decision was announced a few hours before the 2024 return to school.
 
The education authorities of the state of Sonora reported that the return to classes scheduled by the SEP on Monday, January 8, was suspended, due to a recommendation issued by the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Sonora.
 
The following municipalities are the ones that did not have classes this Monday, January 8:
 
Nogales
Santa Cruz
Naco
Nacozari
Bacoachi
Borders
Agua Prieta
Bavispe
Red Snatch
Bacerac
Bacadéhuachi
Nácori Chico
Canaanite
Yécora
Imuris
Santa Ana
Cupcake

In addition, the Ministry of Education of Sonora announced that students from the rest of the municipalities went through their class schedule, those in the morning shift entered an hour later and those in the afternoon shift left the classrooms an hour earlier than usual. This measure was applied to all public and private basic education centres.
