Huetamo, Michoacán. – According to a statement from the State Government, the Community Center for Mental Health and Addictions (Cecosama) that is being built in the municipality of Huetamo, registers an advance of 52 percent and it is estimated that in April of this year it will open its doors to provide care to more than 118 thousand inhabitants of the region.
This work, in which 29 million pesos are invested, was supervised by the Secretary of Government, Elías Ibarra Torres, and the head of the Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM), Belinda Iturbide Díaz, to verify that the population of Tierra Caliente will have comprehensive services to prevent and attend to mental health and addictions. such as the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, and other psychoactive substances.
The Community Centers for Mental Health and Addictions (Cecosama) are units that provide free services where psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors and social workers specialized in prevention and treatment work, so Elías Ibarra reported that this is the second center to be built in the administration of Ramírez Bedolla, out of a total of four projected.
Iturbide Díaz explained that the Cecosama de Huetamo will have six offices with psychology, general medicine and nutrition services, as well as a multipurpose room and playroom, and that it will address cases of depression, anxiety, addictions and suicide attempts at no cost in a timely manner.
During 2023, the five Cecosamas operating in the state in Morelia, Uruapan, Zitácuaro, Lázaro Cárdenas and Zamora provided 11,800 consultations to the same number of people. The one being built in Huetamo is the first to be built in the Tierra Caliente region.
