Bullrich on the debate: “The longer it takes, the more likely you are to fail”

With a few days to go before the debate on the bill promoted by President Javier Milei among the legislators, the Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, assured that it is necessary to reach a consensus urgently and pointed out that “the law will have half a sanction on Tuesday.” You don’t have to look so much at the fine print of a law, but at the general circumstances of a law. In a country where you have to make a quick change because time is directly proportional to the possibility of failure of the plan, the longer it takes the more chances you have of failing,” remarked the former presidential candidate of JxC. I see a Congress where everyone takes advantage of a weakness of a government that has few deputies, instead of thinking about how to get the instrument out. They are advancing more and more on the details and the issues, finally the only thing that is achieved is that the law is deformed,” he added in that line. In an interview with Radio Mitre, the Minister of Security pointed out the main reason why the project should be sanctioned. “It is essential to give the government the instrument to make structural changes. The goal is for the law to have half a sanction on Tuesday,” he said. In this sense, Bullrich argued the critical situation in which the country finds itself as the engine of reform. “The country is on the edge of the abyss, you can’t wait. What’s left already has an agreement, the law has a series of changes. The agreement must be respected. YPF came out of the privatizations, it has been negotiated,” he said. He also referred to the government’s backtracking on the fiscal section of the bill in order to reach an agreement. “What the government assessed is that if the tax chapter continued, the goal of zero deficit was going to be delayed and that is why they decided to withdraw it. He doesn’t decide to withdraw it because he doesn’t want to discuss, he does it because the only thing we were going to achieve was that the complex situation that Argentines have was going to be prolonged,” he said.
