The Government appointed the auditors of the public media

Through a decree signed by President Javier Milei on Friday night, the government has decided to intervene in the public media and the state-owned companies that control them. In this way, Diego Chaher and Diego Marías were appointed as auditor and deputy, respectively, of Educ.Ar Sociedad del Estado, the news agency Télam, Radio y Televisión SE (State Public TV, National Radio and FM), and the company Contenidos Públicos (Encuentro, Paka Paka, DeporTV, Acua Mayor, Acua Federal, the Audiovisual Production Pole and the Argentine Audiovisual Bank of Universal Contents). It is worth noting that Chaher, a lawyer linked to Grupo América, and Marías, a former Buenos Aires legislator of the PRO, will replace the previous heads of Télam and Contenidos Públicos, and the board led by Javier Monte in RTA.La intervention, which has an initial duration of one year, was established through decree number 117/2024, also signed by the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos. It still needs to be published in the Official Gazette before it enters into force. Despite the fact that the measure has a term of 12 months, it was established that, through the Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers, commanded by Nicolás Posse, it may “be extended only once”.
