The ATP announced major changes to the calendar for 2025

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) announced the calendar for the 2025 season, in which it will apply a radical change that includes the disappearance of some tournaments and category changes. The regulatory body remarked that with the new format, next year the events will be “improved” and there will be a total of 60 tournaments spread over 29 countries. The main changes will be at the Masters 1000 in Canada and Cincinnati, as they will have an extension. The two tournaments will be played over 12 days, joining the other five Masters 1000 tournaments that are played with this elongated format. Along with those in Rome, Madrid and Shanghai, these events will now have more importance on the calendar as they will have a longer duration and will have 96 players in their main draws. The increases will also take place in the ATP 500 tournaments, as from next season they will become 16. The competitions in Dallas, Qatar and Munich were upgraded. In turn, the Hamburg tournament will be held in May in the week prior to Roland Garros, while the ATP 250 in Estoril will disappear from the calendar for now, among the many changes. On the other hand, the Argentinian tournament in Cordoba loses its license, which now belongs to Mallorca. The Spanish tournament will be played in the week leading up to Wimbledon as a preparatory event for the third Grand Slam of the year. Another schedule change sees the Los Cabos tournament moved from February to July.
