Inflation was 13.2% in March and has accumulated 285.3% in the last year

Inflation in the City of Buenos Aires in March was 13.2% due to the impact of the increase in public services, private school fees and prepaid schools. At the same time, in the measurement carried out by the City of Buenos Aires there is a greater incidence of the services category, which is why the increases in energy rates, transportation and private education and health services fees have a greater impact. With the March result, the first quarter in the City of Buenos Aires closed with a cumulative variation of 57.3%. Compared to the same month last year, inflation climbed to 285.3%. The report from the Buenos Aires statistics office indicated that goods rose 9.7%, while services rose 16.3%. In turn, seasonal prices (fruits and vegetables, for example) rose by 5.4%, while regulated prices (tariffs) rose by 22.4%. According to the opening of the sample, Education led the increases with an increase of 36.8%, followed by “information and communication with 24.5%. Then comes “housing” with an increase of 17.9% and “health” was in fourth place with 16.9%. According to the CABA measurement, food suffered an increase of 11% in the month and accumulated an increase of 60% in the quarter. In one year, the increase is 336.9%. Within the division, the main impulses came from Milk, dairy products and eggs (18.2%), Meat and derivatives (9.4%), Vegetables, tubers and legumes (22.4%) and Bread and cereals (8.8%). Personal care and hygiene items showed an increase of 10%. Meanwhile, the textile sector exhibited a price increase of 11.2%. At the same time, household equipment showed an increase of 8.6%, similar to that recorded in transport (8.5%). The CABA data are still a warning sign for the government, which was expecting a stronger pace of deceleration in inflation.
