With the presence of Argentina, the semi-finalists of the Europa League were defined

With an outstanding presence of Argentine players, this Thursday the semifinalists of the Europa League were defined. Roma, Olympique de Marseille, Bayern Leverkusen and Atalanta prevailed in their respective quarter-final series and qualified for the competition. In the first instance, at the Olympic Stadium in the Italian capital, Roma, with Paulo Dybala and Leandro Paredes as starters, beat Milan 2-1, in the second leg, and advanced with a 3-1 aggregate, since they had won the first leg. Gianluca Mancini opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Dybala extended the lead for Daniele De Rossi’s side with a stunning left-footed shot.  The World Cup-winning attacker was substituted 41 minutes into the first half for a tactical decision following the sending off of Turkey’s Zeki Celik. In the second half, the Rossoneri scored through Matteo Gabbia, but there were only a few minutes left in the match and they could not reverse the result. In the semi-finals, Roma will face Bayer Leverkusen, who drew 1-1 away to West Ham and stretched their unbeaten run to 44 games. Exequiel Palacios started for Xabi Alonso’s team.Meanwhile, Atalanta, with Juan Musso in the starting line-up, lost 1-0 to Alexis Mac Allister’s Liverpool, but qualified thanks to a 3-0 win in the first leg in England. Their opponent in the next phase will be Benfica.To close the day, Olympique de Marseille won 1-0 against Benfica at home, equalized the series and won it on penalties by 4-2. Ángel Di María, who started for the Eagles along with Nicolás Otamendi, missed the first penalty of the shootout, in which the Argentine defender scored. At Olympique de Marseille, Leonardo Balerdi started and Joaquín Correa came on. Both scored on the final drive.
