Salary increase for senators: UxP presented a bill to put a cap on the salaries of the three branches of government

The Union for the Homeland bloc has unleashed a new controversy in the Senate by presenting a bill that seeks to establish a cap on the assets of the three branches of government. This initiative arises as a response to the increase in salaries of Senators, recently approved in the Upper House. The bill, called “Remuneration Caps of the Superior Authorities of the National State”, aims to limit the salaries of public officials, including judges, senators, deputies and other positions, to a maximum equivalent to twenty Minimum, Vital and Mobile Wages. This measure is expected to be formally presented by the UxP bloc during Monday’s session in the Senate.Within the Kirchnerist bloc, Senator Anabel Fernández Sagasti has generated controversy by raising her hand in the vote on the increase in allowances, but later tried to detach herself from the measure. There has been speculation that he is considering donating part of his salary to public schools. On the other hand, UCR senators Mariana Juri and Rodolfo Suarez presented a note to the Administrative Secretariat to reject the increase in allowances shortly after it was voted on in the Senate. This vote, carried out by show of hands and without prior debate, revealed internal divisions and conflicting positions within the same legislative precinct. Meanwhile, the blocs of La Libertad Avanza and the PRO are exploring different strategies to try to repeal what was approved and roll back the increase. Uncertainty and tensions in the Senate continue to rise, as the bill presented by Union for the Homeland promises to trigger an intense political debate in the coming days.
