“The Changing of the Guard”: the BAFICI-winning film premieres at MALBA

On June 8 at 10 p.m., “The Changing of the Guard” will premiere at MALBA, the film by Martin Farina that was consecrated as “Best Feature Film” in the Argentine Competition of the last edition of BAFICI. The film also won awards for Best Editing and Best Sound. The film stars Juan José Chiariello, Héctor Luconi, Norberto Farina, Juan Carlos Gnemmi, Omar Figueira, Jorge Dos Santos Russo and Bernardo Fitzsimons. Forty-seven years after meeting by chance while doing the colimba in the 1st Patricios Infantry Regiment during the last military coup, a group of seven inseparable friends continues to celebrate an uninterrupted friendship that, beyond the unconditional love that unites them, expresses to the surface the ups and downs of a dazed society in which the experiences of yesteryear are mixed with convictions and politics. I made this film with the idea of projecting an impossible dialogue in public. How do you go about disagreeing so deeply with someone you love? The changing of the guard brings us closer to a possibility of doing the performative experiment of seeing ourselves reflected in that difficulty,” the filmmaker said in a press release. The film will be screened at MALBA every Saturday in June at the same time.
