Natalie Portman to Star in New Series “Woman in the Lake”

Apple TV+ presented the first look at “The Woman in the Lake,” the new seven-part limited series starring Natalie Portman, who also serves as executive producer, and Emmy-nominated Moses Ingram. As reported by the platform through a press release, the first two episodes will premiere on Friday, July 19, followed by episodes every Friday until August 23. Maddie Schwartz (Portman,) a Jewish housewife who seeks to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Sherwood (Ingram,) a mother who navigates the political underbelly of black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family. Their disparate lives seem parallel at first, but when Maddie becomes obsessed with Cleo’s baffling death, an abyss opens up that endangers everyone around her. From visionary director Alma Har’el, “The Woman in the Lake” emerges as a feverish noir thriller and an unexpected story about the price women pay for their dreams. “The Woman in the Lake” is produced by Crazyrose and Bad Wolf America, and is created, produced, written and directed by Har’el along with producing partner Christopher Leggett. The cast is completed by Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison and Pruitt Taylor Vince.
