Jack Black canceled his tour with Tenacius D after a joke about the attack on Donald Trump

Jack Black issued a statement after what happened at the last concert given by the band he is part of with Kyle Gass, Tenacious D. The incident occurred last Sunday, July 14, during a concert in Sydney, Australia, where Black celebrated the 64th birthday of his duo partner, Kyle Gass. There, next to a birthday cake, the singer asked his colleague to “make a wish” before blowing out the candles. It was there that Gass expressed: “Next time don’t fail (to target) Trump,” and although at the time the band did not react to the statements. Hours later, and after the video went viral, Jack Black issued a statement about it. “I was surprised by what was said on Sunday’s show. I would never tolerate hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.”, began in its publication.
He continued: “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue with the Tenacious D tour and all future creative plans are on hold. I thank the fans for their support and understanding.”, he concluded about what happened. Following Black’s statements, Kyle Gass also apologized via Instagram and expressed: “The phrase I improvised on Sunday night in Sydney was grossly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake. I do not condone any kind of violence, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy and I am very sorry for my serious lack of judgment,” Wrote. Since 2020, Tenacious D has been releasing songs as singles, through their YouTube channel, through music videos. In October 2020 they covered the song Time Warp from the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Also, in March 2024, the band recorded the soundtrack for the film Kung Fu Panda 4 where she performed the cover of Britney Spears, “Baby One More Time” that became popular on social networks. However, after what happened, the “Spicy Meatball Tour”, which had recently completed dates in the United States and Europe, was completely suspended. The tour was scheduled to continue on Tuesday night in Newcastle, followed by several performances in major cities in Australia and New Zealand later this month.
