The Galván workshop donated two bandoneons valued at more than 1 million pesos

The Galván workshop is a space dedicated to the restoration, repair and tuning of bandoneons, and recently started a campaign through its Instagram account @tallergalvan to donate a brown ELA bandoneon restored by the team in order to help and inspire musicians in need. Today at noon, through an Instagram live, they communicated that the public vote was very even, but that the winner of the bandoneon called “Blessed” was Mateo Cruz, an 11-year-old boy from Purmamarca – Jujuy, who has the dream of being able to continue with his artistic training.
But minutes later, the workshop team surprised by announcing that they had decided to donate a second bandoneon for the Mario Abramovich Tango School Orchestra of San Miguel that is formed by children and young people from the Cultural Centers of the Neighborhoods of Manuelita, Mitre, Sarmiento and El Faro. The previous weeks were ardent since the team was receiving through its account a huge number of candidates who applied counting their history to receive the donation of the bandoneon. The team instead of choosing five applicants, which was the original idea, ended up choosing eight participants thanks to the number of stories and comments they received. The shortlisted were: Pablo Lobo, Lihue Emiliano, La Negra Evita, Federico Mendoza, Clara Ayvazof Adrogué, Mahilén Corvalán, La Orquesta Abramovich and Mateo Cruz. From there, in the following days, the public was voting for their favorites.
Pedro Galván mentor of the initiative says “the idea was born from my own experience, I know the economic cost of bandoneons and what it implies, a lot of work and in many cases the discouragement for not achieving it.” And he adds: “since we launched the campaign the community of our followers were showing us that this is important and above all Yes it is necessary. We believe that it is an initiative that can generate awareness of the need that young musicians have to continue their careers without the means to achieve their dream. Today, faced with the even votes, we decided to make an effort and be able to provide happiness and support to both Mateo and the Abramovich Orchestra by donating a bandoneon to each one.”
