The Ministry of Health reported 8,730 new cases of Covid-19, with a positivity of 14.19% in the last 24 hours nationwide, after the realization of 58,650 tests, PCR and antigen test, while the daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 13.93%.
The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -5% and -8% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, five regions decreased their new confirmed cases in the last seven days and four did so in the last two weeks.
Of the total number of new cases, 36% are diagnosed by antigen test, 49% originate from Active Case Finding (BAC) and 26% of those reported are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 26% by antigen, 43% by BAC and 18% of reported cases are asymptomatic.
According to the health authority, according to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Coquimbo, O’Higgins, Valparaíso and Antofagasta. Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the regions of Arica, Coquimbo and Magallanes.
According to today’s report, of the 8,730 new cases of Covid-19, 4,530 correspond to symptomatic people and 1,569 have no symptoms. In addition, there were 2,631 positive PCR tests that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus in the country reaches 4,084,308. Of that total, 40,928 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 3,980,849.
As for the deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 31 deaths due to causes associated with the coronavirus. The total number of deaths in the country is 58,818.
To date, 184 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 117 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 261 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 58,650 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching to date a total of 41,049,389 analyzed nationwide. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 14.19% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 13.93%.
With respect to the Health Residences, there are 28 lodging facilities, with 2,095 total beds. The actual occupancy nationwide is 62%, leaving a total of 637 beds available to be used.
