translated from Spanish: Medical humanism and bioethics – El Mostrador

the health science is a crucial moment in its theoretical basis and work exercise that will define the professionals who perform the various races that make up this area. By this I mean that the technical aspects that have certain professions such as medicine, dentistry, physical therapy and nursing, to name a few, it will be increasingly anchored in bioethics and medical humanism care.
This – which seems so far to the health-sciences, in the best schools in Europe and the United States is already a reality. To name one: Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York is at the forefront in terms of applying these concepts of humanism to the medical office.
A few days ago we received the outstanding doctor of the institution Martha Grayson, who shared the ideals that inspire this change in practice to more than 400 students and teachers from the area who took part in the Symposium “advances and new trends in education in the health sciences”.
Their presence is no coincidence. The Autonomous University of Chile with its Faculty of Health Sciences is betting on to train students of first quality technical and also noteworthy from the comprehensive view of the human being. Why is that we are the first school in opening a space dedicated to enhance these qualities, as it is the center of medical humanism and Bioética Albert Einstein, which was a result of a more than two-year process, where our House of studies initiated a Exchange of students with Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
As part of the tasks that this new Center is developing a series of activities that included as part to public health bioethics.
The focus of all the schools in health in Chile has to be, because what the world and its inhabitants are demanding. Our students, should be also formed in these other areas, allowing them to interact and see patients from a comprehensive perspective.
