Elota.-the Secretariat of sustainable development (SEDESU) presented the study advances into protected area to the Sierra de Tacuichamona, which is located in the municipalities of Culiacan, Elota and Cosalá. Reported by a press release on Monday. Abel Ulises Romero Perez, director of protection to the environment of the State SEDESU, presented the progress of the study to the Mayor of Elota Geovani Escobar Manjarrez and body of Councillors and aldermen. The Sierra de Tacuichamona will be an ANP with State reserve, which will help ensure balance and continuity of the evolutionary processes and will form a biological corridor. It has an area of 44 thousand 675 hectares, which inhabit 450 species of flora and over 100 fauna. Only in Elota, said the State official, are 13 thousand 482 hectares, comprising the 30.18 per cent of the total area to testify.

Justification prior study showed an inventory of 450 species of flora, of which 9 are protected by the Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010, and 38 are on a list of risk. In the case of the fauna, more than 100 species were recorded: vertebrate 114, 85 birds and 10 mammals, 9 reptiles, six amphibians. Romero Perez said that no community in the municipality is located within the polygon of interference by the project, but that they are adjacent, Ibonia corner, the ropes, the tubs and Potrerillos and Anexos.El Mayor praised the efforts of the SEDESU by take care and protect nature and, in turn, offer alternatives of sustainable work the inhabitants of protected natural areas.
