Mexico.- The Special Economic Zones (EEz) have become an elementary space for investment in the last five years, getting various companies to expand their capital globally and thereby detonify development in the regions in which they are installed.
Reports from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) show that the last year has seen a 35 per cent increase in the opening of EEZs around the world, envolving the creation of 1,400 areas of nversion.

The creation of these, UNCTAD said, will not stop and proof of this is the 500 EEZs in development. Despite this, in Mexico this project is about to disappear, because the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, does not consider it suitable for investment.
That decision would jeopardize the Special Economic Zone located in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán-La Unión, Guerrero, which already has committed capital, such as the billion dollars invested in that region by the Arcelor Mittal steelworks.

That is why the importance of seeking to maintain these types of investment areas in Mexico, as in various parts of the world they have been key to transforming the economy, as well as facilitating greater participation in global value chains, as they offer incentives that allow foreign direct investment.
