Morelia, Michoacán.- Carlos Gómez Arrieta broke away from the ownership of the Undersecretariat of Public Security, after a video in which a detainee is questioned about the case of the 43 missing normalist students of Ayotzinapa and in which they are warned alleged acts of torture, which was disclosed exclusively by the Spanish media outlet El País and then replicated by the national and state press.
On the separation of the office of Arrieta Gómez, which was of his own free will, the Secretariat of Public Security reported on Saturday in a statement: “In the face of public events reported in the media, Carlos Gómez Arrieta decided to secede from the post Under-Secretary of Public Security in the State, in order to facilitate and address investigations arising therefrom.
“The Secretariat of Public Security in the State (SSP) endorses its commitment to continue to work with full transparency, institutionality, accountability and consistency, to ensure the tranquility and peace of the Michoacans.
“In this regard, it reiterates its readiness to cooperate with the competent authorities in the investigation, related to the regrettable events that occurred in 2014 in the state of Guerrero, of which the Mexicans claim their full clarification.”
