translated from Spanish: “I don’t owe anything to the PAN,” Miguel Angel Chavez joins Movimiento Ciudadano

Morelia, Michoacán.- Miguel Angel Chávez Zavala, who had been in the National Action Party for 29 years, announced this day his resignation from that political institute, to join the ranks of Movimiento Ciudadano.
At a press conference the now former panista detailed his reasons for separating from the PAN, since he mentioned that it was not an easy decision, after nearly 30 years of pertinating the albiazul.
Chávez Zavala’s motives were: the closure of spaces of citizen participation, because of the “current political dynamics”; closure to discussion and debate, which does not allow the contrast of ideas and which kills the soul and spirit of a party; unwillingness to compete in electoral processes; the distribution of public posts and within the PAN that prevents the participation of its militancy.
The former panista stated that for four years he tried to include the antetiorme issues referred to in the inner life of that party, but was not heard, so he ruled out that his resignation is a whim or tantrum.
“To National Action I arrived alone and through the front door, today I retire alone and by the same door and so I am coming to Movement Citizen. Nothing owes me the PAN and nothing should I.”
Miguel Angel Chávez stated that his arrival at MC is not to displace anyone and that on the contrary, his goal will be to add and contribute to the party and its agenda.
For his part, the state leader of that political institute, Manuel Antúnez Oviedo, emphasized that to his party is an extraordinary element with a great political formation, dedicated to serving the city.
Chávez Zavala arrives at MC as party coordinator in the municipality of Morelia, leading the promotion of the citizens’ participation of the Morelians in politics.
