“We have called on the Minister of the Interior, Gonzalo Blumel, to carry out a new Constitution and initiate a constituent process, for which we have presented an indication to set a certain date for the people to decide whether or not they want a New Constitution and under what mechanism she wants to make it, whether through the Constituent Assembly or through the Full Congress,” the Parliament held on its social networks.
For his part, Mr Hugo Gutiérrez added that this is an urgent demand and a clear signal must be given about the change to the Constitution, one of the main demands of the mobilized citizens.
“We believe it is necessary to place them in order to take up the constituent process left by former President Bachelet, and for this we have presented an indication that we believe is indispensable to respond to the requirements of the mobilized citizenry and is that it wants a plebiscite now to say whether or not he wants a new Constitution,” the deputy said.
The session of the Constitution Commission is cited for 3:30 p.m. on Monday, November 11, in the Reading Room of the headquarters in Santiago of the National Congress.
