translated from Spanish: “If you move, I take care of you” Women’s Delegation movement

Morelia, Michoacán.- Through a statement it has been reported that the Delegation of Women of Citizen Movement presented the project “If you move, I take care of you”.
They reported that this project is created and promoted jointly between the Michoacán Women in Movement Delegation and women’s advocacy activists in the state, such as Elvia Higuera Pérez.
Introducing this project, the Women in Motion Delegate in Michoacán, Jimena Berthely, remarked that women “want a life free from violence.”
He stressed that the picture facing Michoacan women today was daunting, as violence against women has been normalizing, which should not be allowed.
She noted that it is contradictory that while the international day of non-violence towards women is commemorated in November, it has been one of the months with the most women murdered in the entire state.

“Michoacán remains a dangerous, unsafe territory for women, where women do not feel safe in public space,” she said.

He disclosed that the results of this mapping will be delivered to the state and municipal government bodies, so that the places that pose risks to women are known, and where they feel unsafe, either for lack of street lighting , or places where they face harassment. The project is to take care of a woman’s life, and to also create support networks.
