translated from Spanish: They locate a new species of violinist spider originating in the Valley of Mexico

Scientists from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) identified a new species of violinist spider native to the Valley of Mexico. It is the first species native to this area of the country, although throughout the national territory there are 40 different species of violinist spiders. The researchers also shared some recommendations to avoid having an unfortunate encounter with what is considered one of the most venomous spiders in the world.
It was classified as Loxosceles tenochtitlan. The particular thing about this species is that it is the first native of the Valley of Mexico. With this we have that in total there are 40 different species of violinist spiders in the country, representing 30% of the species in the world. Alejandro Valdez-Mondragón, one of the participants in the discovery, commented:
At first glance, it can be identified because it is not of striking color, but presents dark brown tones, and unlike other species of Loxosceles in the country, where it is not so marked, it has a dorsal pattern in the form of a violin very visible, hence its name.
Loxosceles tenochtitlan can be found mainly in Mexico City, the State of Mexico and Tlaxcala.
