The name of the project arises from the nickname that the musician has had since childhood and the color black (sable), which form a combination of words that gives way to the perfect connotation between his personality, and what has determined him since his beginnings in music.
Biography
Emmanuel Zúñiga was born in Morelia, Michoacán in 1983. His musical influences range from Creedence, Led Zepellin, to composers José Manuel Aguilera, Steven Wilson to Thom Yorke.
In 2001 he joined Rigoberto Hernández, Juan Carlos de la Torre and Noé Contreras, the heavy metal group Et Mortem, where he played as guitarist and vocalist.
He was also part of bands such as Lid Legion, Midgard, and an ephemeral jazz and bossa nova project that did not have a specific name. Between the years 2005 to 2009, he was building a series of pieces that had nothing in common with what he usually played in their respective groups, were compositions more focused on experimenting with various musical genres that caught his attention, and that did not had some place in their projects of that time. This is why he starts recording some songs on his own and begins to gebased the idea of what would later become Sable Dog.
In 2010 he was invited by drummer Javier Perez (Midgard) and pianist Manuel Mass to be part of the city, an instrumental post-rock cutting project, composed of musicians from Morelia and CDMX. With them he recorded his first studio album entitled “Viva Bocashi” in 2012. The group is still active to date and is close to releasing their second record material.
