National Prosecutor Jorge Abbott noted that there is no need to investigate the origin of the Big Data report that the Government gave it, which analyses the alleged influence from abroad in the social demonstrations of the last 3 months.
Abbott stated that “we have taken that report as a background that comes from open sources, social media, and that they could eventually have some value in an investigation. So far we have not found any value and therefore there was no need to investigate the origin of it,” according to Emol.

In the same vein, he added that “if we had from that report a background that we could assert in judgment, then we would have to investigate what the origin is, because at the time of incorporating it into a trial we have to check the traceability of it: who did it, how it came into our hands and also quote to declare those who did it.”

It should be remembered that the Undersecretariat of Interior, through a statement, acknowledged that the Quiñenco group put him in contact with the Spanish company Alto Analytics, which made the contested Big Data report.
In addition, they noted that “Alto Analytics, an international social media data analysis company, made available to the ANI, in its character as the head of national intelligence, the results of a report on the events that occurred from 18 October 2019.”
“Knowing the content of this report, it was considered relevant to deliver it to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, so that it would have it as context information and for the purposes it deemed relevant,” the statement adds.
In addition, they reiterated that the report “was not commissioned by the Government of Chile or financed by public resources”.
