Deputy of National Renewal Ximena Ossandón joined the sector of officialism that supports the plebiscite of April 26 as a mechanism to move towards a new Political Constitution of the Republic. In this sense, the parliamentarian, sister of Senator Manuel José Ossandón, who also supports the process, called for “tore down the myth” that the Chilean process is the beginning of a stage of chaos that will lead Chile to a situation similar to that of Venezuela , as has been spreading the toughest faction of the right represented by José Antonio Kast or LEADERS of the UDI.
“I want to invite you to bring down another myth: that we are going to transform into Chilezuela, that we are going to become the sad reality that Venezuela lives today, and that is not so,” he said through a video disseminated on social media.
“I want to tell you that in most democratic countries, most of them Western, 70 or 80% of constitutions share a series of values that we too will defend and also that the Venezuelan constitution has things that we like and others I said no. But the problem is not that, the problem is that the government does not respect it and there is no Constitutional Court that does its job,” he said.
In the Chilean case she emphasized, “We have a tremendous opportunity. In Venezuela a significant group of the population stopped participating, some because they did not want to and others because they did not let them participate in that Constituent Assembly. In Chile it’s going to be different. We have a government that is going to support this process, which is going to be free and democratic, where all Chileans will be able to participate.”
Ossandón concluded by supporting the idea of concluding to vote on 26 April for the “Apruebo” option.
