World.- A woman with the Wuhan coronavirus has given birth to a girl who is not infected with the virus. The 33-year-old woman gave birth by Caesarean on Monday at a hospital in the capital of Shaanxi, Xi’an.
The birthing room photos show how doctors wore extra protective clothing for the operation. The woman was transported to the room on a sealed stretcher.
sn.peopleShortly after birth, the baby was tested for the virus. The test came back negative. She will be examined again in a few days to confirm the result.
Currently, both mother and daughter are in stable condition, being treated in separate hospital wards.
This occurs after a baby in Wuhan was diagnosed with coronavirus 30 hours after birth on February 2.
The baby’s mother had tested positive for the virus before giving birth, but it is not yet clear how the disease was transmitted to the child, either in the womb or after birth through contact with the mother.
There have been at least two other incidents in China of mothers with coronavirus giving birth to healthy children not infected with the virus.
