Madrid.- Spain added at least 565 new coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours, reaching a total of 20,043, as well as 4,499 contagions, with 191,726 people who have been infected since the onset of the pandemic. In addition, 74,662 patients have recovered, 3,166 more than on Friday, according to data offered today by the Ministry of Health.
These are the first figures that Health publishes with data provided by the autonomous communities according to the new criteria for notification of coronavirus cases established by the Government to achieve more effective management of information on the impact of COVID-19. The Spanish Government yesterday unified the procedure for regional information on contagions, deaths and medical discharges from the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, which will be more detailed, and will proceed to review and correct data after a gap is detected.
Within that new procedure, the Spanish autonomous communities today reported 1,194 people with positive antibodies but no symptoms at the time of the test, so “the time of contagion or whether or not they have suffered the disease” can be established, notes the Ministry of Health.Madrid remains the most affected region with 52,946 infected, 7,132 deaths and 30,475 cured , followed by Catalonia, with 39,943 confirmed cases, 3,879 killed and 13,275 people cured.
