The Government of Mexico City reported that from 12 to 26 April, the number of intubated people has tripled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, from 265 to 685 at the cut today.
“It is important to know that from April 12th that it was the first day that we started to report on intubated people, as of April 26, the number of intubates has tripled, from 265 to 685 to today. We are currently in the most critical stage of contagion mainly in the metropolitan area,” said Head of Government Claudia Sheinbaum.

In videoconferencing, Sheinbaum added that three thousand 764 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been accumulated; assets are 1,440.
Suspects, thousand 880; negative 7 thousand 958; hospitalized, thousand 760; 685, and deaths 307.
“We are with a 43% percentage of occupation of the public hospital system and this week we are waiting for the hospital system to grow as I reported, with 500 new fans, who are concerned to increase intensive care spaces for COVID-19 sufferers; in addition to the entire other hospital area that is about three times more access to the city’s public hospitals.
What do we mean? Mexican Institute of Social Security, Institute for State Workers, ISSSTE, CCINSAHE, National Institutes of Health, Hospital General, GEA Hospital, Hospital Juárez de México and hospitals, the four hospitals of the Government of the City that are intended for COVID-19.
And we are every day reviewing with the different institutions for the Metropolitan Zone, together with the State of Mexico, for the following week to have a greater increase of people who require intensive care. So right now, I repeat, we are about 45 percent of the saturation of intensive care units to receive people with acute respiratory diseases, regardless of whether they have COVID or not, it is COVID or suspected COVID, as we reported at the time.”
Through the Locatel system and 51515 service, 305 thousand 114 users have been served. 222,510 questionnaires have been completed and three thousand 549 suspected cases have been reported.
165 transfers have been made; 54 to the Red Cross, 97 to the Erum, 4 to private hospitals, 2 to mayors and 8 to Sedesa.
The medical kits that have been delivered to the homes of COVID-19 patients in their homes are six thousand 16.
Strengthen health measures at Central Abasto
Héctor Ulises García Nieto, administrator of the Abasto Central in Mexico City, reported that health measures will be strengthened, following COVID-19 contagions among traders.
Actions will include health intervention to prevent the spread of the virus, locate and monitor suspected cases with the participation of 400 elements, including medical personnel, technicians and health promoters.
“High-contagion routes will be made to detect areas of high contagion in the commercial vessels of each market and triage tents will be installed for the review of infected persons and as far as possible tests will be carried out,” he added in videoconference.

In addition, nearly 200 offices will be set up for emerging care for the population, mainly workers at the Abasto Central, with the possibility of monitoring all cases that are detected.
In addition, the Preventive Administrative Standard will be issued for the proper functioning of the Abasto Plant in Mexico City during the period of Health Emeregence derived from COVID-19.
“This, in order to ensure health and preventive measures in transport, food, operation, mobility, worker care, visitors, as well as goods,” he added.
García Nieto reported that operations will be strengthened in general accesses, toll areas, buyer’s corridors and pedestrian pathways to take the temperature, and antibacterial gel will be given.
Pregnant women, children and older adults are prohibited from entering, the use of head covers will be mandatory, the wineries will be disinfected permanently and only two persons will be allowed access by private vehicle.
