Undersecretary of Health Hugo López-Gatell insisted that these are not deaths that occurred on this day, but dates of May, April, and even March.
At a press conference, he explained that this increase is due to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) “joining the effort of complementary analysis of the unansused figures in mortality”, as it identified 726 deaths out of the 1,092 reported on this day.
The Ministry of Health system identified 212, while the remaining 84 were reported by ISSSTE, Pemex and other federal institutions.
