Despite the long lines and the large number of people who went to shopping malls and department stores, health measures were respected, the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, said on Thursday.
«It is true that many people arrived in the squares, but at the same time they were kept, virtually all the health measures that were required, the Institute of Administrative Verification was making different visits and in most it was fulfilled,» he said.

However, he said they will assess friday and friday’s behaviour in places and shopping malls to determine whether adjustments are made to their reopening.
«We are asking shopping malls to help us. They have to help us in controlling the rows that are done at the entrance and we are checking along with them. There has to be a co-responsibility here for both traders and citizens and the government,» she said.
«The government cannot be monitoring all the citizen behavior that has already been raised must occur to prevent contagion. Our goal even with reopening is to continue to reduce contagion with detection programs, healthy distance, with the use of mouth-coverings. The government guides, we make decisions about what needs to be done based on the information we have, but there has to be very important cooperation of the citizenry.»
At a press conference, he said that next week will be decisive for Mexico City, as it will be 15 days since the capital entered the orange light, so it will be seen whether contagions increased or remained.
«Then next week we’ll see how the pandemic evolves in the City, whether there will be more hospitalizations, more contagions and from there, make some decisions.»
