Tegucigalpa, Honduras.- Honduras accumulates 84,081 cases of COVID-19, seven months after the start of the pandemic in the country with the 925 confirmed contagions on Sunday, while the pastures add up to 2,512, an official source reported. According to the National Risk Management System (Sinager), samples for 1,807 people have been processed in recent hours, of which 935 tested COVID-19 positive.

Among the cases confirmed today, 253 correspond to the department of Cortés, in the north of the country and epicenter of the disease, followed by Francisco Morazán, where the capital is located, with 186 contagions, Atlantis and Bay Islands with 119 and 112, respectively.
The Honduran agency also today added to its statistics eight deaths by COVID-19, of which five corresponded to Francisco Morazán, one in Comayagua, one in Cortés and one in Valle, which raises to 2,512 the total deaths in the Central American country, which has a mortality rate of 2.9.Of the total patients infected with the virus, 754 are hospitalized, 593 of them “stable”, 131 serious and 30 in the intensive care unit, Sinager said.In turn, 81 people have overcome the disease, after complying with house isolation or receiving medical discharge in a hospital, bringing the total healed to 32,012.

Extend red alert and curfew
The National Police of Honduras extended the curfew this Sunday until October 18 throughout the national territory to stop the expansion of the new coronavirus. The official provision also restricts the movement of people by double digits so that they can make purchases in supermarkets, pharmacies, hardware stores, gas stations and formalities in banks and cooperatives. Persons with documents whose digit ends on 1.2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0 may leave from 12 to 18 October to the different authorized establishments.
The civil protection authorities also extended the “red alert” to the same date in the 18 departments of Honduras at the request of the secretariat (ministry) of Salud.La enlargement entered into force at 21.00 local hours today (03:00 GMT) and has been adopted as part of containment measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The Honduran agency warned that it will sanction political parties that mobilize or concentrate more than 50 people and fail to comply with biosecurity measures, such as masking and estating. A ship from Turkey with two more mobile hospitals, out of seven bought by Honduras Strategic Investment (Invest-H) from a company in that country in the face of the pandemic emergency, arrived today in the Caribbean of the country.

The boat docked around 09.00 local time (15.00 GMT) in Puerto Cortés, in the Caribbean of the country, and will be installed in Choluteca and Santa Rosa de Copán, in the south and west of Honduras, respectively. The two new mobile hospitals are part of seven bought by Invest-H, whose former CEO Marco Bográn is being investigated for alleged corruption in the acquisition, costing around $48 million. The first two mobile hospitals arrived in Honduras on July 10, but so far they are not in operation in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, the country’s two main cities.
